January 14th to 18th, 2019, at the Rocks. Hours 9.30 am to 3.30 pm
Students work from two models who pose for the week. For the first part of the week students will  undertake exercises exploring: approaches to colour tonal values use of glazing and alla prima painting techniques. For second part of the week, students will undertake a sustained study consolidating the exercises  undertaken in the first part of the week. Talks throughout the week will reference Paul’s own work and his extended collection of images of master painters work.
Students are recommended to have had some previous experience drawing and painting the figure.

Description

Students work  from two models who pose for the week. For the first part of the week, students will undertake exercises exploring: approaches to colour used by such masters as Velasquez and Sargent: understanding tonal values using limited colour/monochrome: use of glazing and alla prima painting techniques. For second part of the week, students will undertake a sustained study consolidating the exercises  undertaken in the first part of the week. Paul will be giving many short talks throughout the week, including demonstrations. Talks will reference Paul’s own work and his extended collection of images of master painters work. Students are recommended to have had some previous experience drawing and painting
the figure.
