Works by SAS/JAAS Students

WORK BY THE SYDNEY ART SCHOOL / JULIAN ASHTON ART SCHOOL STUDENTS

The first student of Julian Ashton at The Sydney Art School was Ethel Stephens, the daughter of Professor William John Stephens a famously enlightened early headmaster of The Sydney Grammar School. Ethel Stephens became known for her flower paintings.  Thousands were to follow in her footsteps, working as painters, sculptors, graphic artists, illustrators and in every other field of art, including academic and historical studies, over the ensuing 120 years. Many are now household names.

The school is particularly interested in presenting student or early works by members of the alumni, known or unknown artists alike.

We would be delighted to receive information regarding possible works for inclusion in this important historic online catalogue. It may be that you have an artist relative who attended The Sydney Art School / Julian Ashton Art School.  Please send us an email on the CONTACT form or telephone the office.

You may be proud to have that artist included.    LET US KNOW.
